Why We Built This
Canadian personal finance is genuinely different from American personal finance. TFSAs, RRSPs, FHSAs, CPP, OAS, HST, CMHC insurance, the mortgage stress test, land transfer tax — these are Canadian realities that generic financial calculators from the US completely ignore or get wrong.
We built Northern Numbers because we couldn't find a single Canadian site that offered accurate, up-to-date calculators for all of these things in one place. The existing options were either American tools with no Canadian context, outdated government pages that hadn't been updated in years, or paywalled tools buried behind financial advisor sign-ups.
Northern Numbers exists to fix that. Every calculator on this site is built specifically for Canada, uses current rates and rules, and is free to use — no account required.
What We Offer
Northern Numbers currently offers 30 free Canadian financial calculators covering mortgages, registered accounts, taxes, retirement income, real estate, and personal finance planning. Every calculator is built with Canada-specific rules — from the OSFI mortgage stress test to the CRA's RRIF prescribed withdrawal factors to provincial land transfer tax brackets.

We update every calculator when federal budgets, CRA announcements, or provincial changes affect the underlying rates. All 2026 figures reflect the latest available data from the CRA, Statistics Canada, Service Canada, and provincial governments.
Our Commitment to Accuracy
Every calculator on Northern Numbers is built from primary sources — CRA tables, Statistics Canada data, OSFI guidelines, and provincial government tax schedules. We verify formulas mathematically before publishing and update rates when official sources change.
That said, our calculators provide estimates, not guaranteed financial advice. Tax rules are complex, personal situations vary, and rates change. We always recommend verifying important numbers with CRA My Account, your financial institution, or a qualified professional before making major financial decisions.
